Which could be the reason for a more virulence mutant strain than the wild type strain? The mutant strain lost a gene related to copper detoxification. And the survival of mutant strain resulted in less than for wild type. Could you help me to figure it out?
We should know the mutagenic agents in this case . Curing agents ,of coarse induce mutations and the mutant strain could be with more virulence, because certain gene clusters might be dissociated ; resulting in expression of more active subunits or certain virulent proteins....
Thank you for the answer... the knockout strain has lost a copper exporter ATPase and I need to justify why te mutant strain resulted more virulent. Maybe the loss of this gene is altering other important pathways of regulation?
If the bacterium has no need to export copper, it is beneficial for the bacterium not to produce the copper exporter ATPase; the saved resources can be deployed elsewhere.
