Can I culture rat cortical cells on supplemented DMEM-F12? Is there a paper comparing medium culture conditions?

Please check the method seciton in article "

Freshly frozen E18 rat cortical cells can generate functional neural networks after standard cryopreservation and thawing procedures"

The authors use supplemented DMEM-F12 in primary culture of rat cortical cells .
