Hello,

We are designing a protocol to determine the effect of certain compounds in the health of rats, but our problems have certain instability issues when subjected to certain pHs. We were wondering which pH ranges are recommendable for subcutaneous administration of substances to rats, to avoid animal discomfort.

Mariano De La Piedad Marín-Blazquez Hervás Mariano, Usually a pH of 4 to 8 works well. Some report that pH-9 is workable. For a rat that weighs about 200 grams the Subcutaneous injection is approx 1 ml / 5 ml/kg / 20 G
