I'm now practising the internal carotid artery injection on mice, but everytime I found that the cells were all in the lung. Perhaps I injected the cells into the vein, but not the artery. Is there anyone can kindly share some experience on this skill, and the way to distinguish the veins and arterys?

I think you are right, the iv infusion (jugular vein) goes to the right atrium then through the right ventricle to pulmonary arteries and lungs.
the common carotid artery lies deep behind the muscles of the neck close to the trachea and runs intimately with the vagus nerve, the pulsating is a good indication that you are looking at the common carotid artery. the jugular vein is gorged and superficial. the jugular vein is gorged and superficial and lies relatively loose in the fascia.
the common carotid bifurcates ( at the level of the lower angle of the lower jaw) to external (lies spatially above) and internal ( lies spatially in and behind) arteries.
for beter dissection I would use a surgical microscope.
