I wonder if somebody may know if the transplantation rejection may happen among these subtypes? For example, transplant HLA-A0217 tissue to HLA-A0201 host. Thank you so much.
The two alleles of A2 that you are asking about have 3 amino acid differences all found on the beta-pleated sheet of the peptide binding groove. Given that, it is very unlikely that an A0201 recipient would be able to make antibodies to an A0217 donor. However, there is no reason to think why you would not be able to mount a cellular response.
