I have also been invited recently but after doing some check plus the conservation here, I will not be attending. Attached below is a Wikipedia link to its reputation.
Recently I attended the WCGG-2013 in Dalian, China. It was Global Health Conference-2013 organized by BITs. It was a good conference and arrangements were quite nice. Everything took place according to the program schedule displayed on the conference website and many delegates and speakers were present for the conference. Actually six conferences were scheduled together at the same venue under the banner of Global Health Conference. As far as genuinity is concerned, I believe it is good. Yes they charge for a registration fee and in your case you got a discount that is good. They accommodated my wife also with me in the same package and I too got a discount from them. So sounds nice altogether :)
I also was invited twice by the same organizer to deliver talks, of course, on a different subject. But to my surprise, it was all fake. Please get in touch with at least a renowned speaker before making any payment.
Seems like a corporate event rather than a academic one. Specifically, one small company. BITeomics seems to be a China based biotech firm (seems legit). However, seems to be mainly known for work in the petrochemical industry, rather than cancer. Maybe they are diversifying.
Very stingy of them if they are asking you to pay to speak, though. There are certainly many much higher profile events in China compared to this.
Hi Jessica, I get this invitation now every year, but never attended it - I think it is very questionable that someone asks you to participate due to your achievement and experience to be an "invited speaker" and then wants you to pay for it. An invited speaker usually gets all the travel costs and lecture fee. Therefore, I am a "bit" sceptical. There also seems to be a similarity to another congress, but that other one appears to be real (withoput "BIT" and differently organized, but will be in Australia).
I know it from smaller conferences in biophysics that some of the speakers on the list (usually those who are not professor) can get on the speakers list with paying the fees. But for an academic conference, there is a need to be attractive for the participants, i.e. provide good research and not just sell an empty space on a speakers list. I think most conferences today are not very good, since there are too many. Only few, but very well known conferences are really good to attend. As an example, I really liked a Keystone meeting.
I cannot make my timetable work now to attend the conference anyway now. But this advice will help me as in future as I will probably get another invitation next year. Thanks for your comments.
I asked them now twice if they will cover my flight and housing and meeting costs... and paying me some fee, but they continue bothering me now with two people inviting me again and again, but not offering me any travel costs, but wanting to know my scientific field - why inviting me in the first place if they do not know at all what I did - to whom should my contribution then be of interest? It is clear for me that this is not a usual scientific meeting - and not organized by any worldwide scientific organization. I wonder if the mentioned (very few) professors really know that they are listed on that program - and if yes, if they really are aware about the strange concept of the meeting to invite randomly about just everyone and choose any field of topic... So, it seems some hotels have empty rooms and want them filled with anybody.
Just an update: they continue bothering me, but now offer a reduction... Still, I can not consider this as an "invitation" as speaker to a real scientific meeting. They offer a reduction, but do not even mention, on which topic I should speak - at least this sounds very strange to me. What should I or someone else then expect from other speakers?
Has anyone attended this congress? I got this invitation this year, the venue web-page looks professional but I am quite concerned about the quality. Can I listen to some important data/lectures there? Or it is more of low profile? It is nice I could attend but I would like have a bit of good research to listen to.
Once you attend one time, you will get invitations from these group every week almost and they would keep you bothering about the consent and the speech title. Nobody would confirm if they are ready to pay for your travel, accommodation, registration etc. If you are inviting as a speaker, then you should arrange for their trip also. But it is not the case.
Now in most of the cases, it has become like a business with lot of conferences being organised in every part of the world. So be cautious in choosing the venue (at least if the venue is good, so you have a good outing, haha) and obviously the scientific aspects related with the conference. If you ask about the profile, then the conference maintains the standards as per your selection of the package. Most of the times, they arrange five star hotels as venues and you get back the value for your money. As far as the scientific quality is concerned, it is better to communicate personally with the scientists listed as speakers to confirm if they are really coming to present the lecture or not.
I am also having invitation from them for the last 2 years,, same package , different venues, pay all your cost ,
its seems its a marketing for tourism in their areas rather than real scientific activity,, so if you want to have small time out you may go ,, I don't think I am going ,, I may put money in real scientific activity and attend as participant rather than as a speaker and pay all the cost ,,I am apologizing to them now ,, I searched a lot to find one speaker confirming this activity as true,, nothing till now ,only dr. Harisingh is saying they are true
I have also been invited recently but after doing some check plus the conservation here, I will not be attending. Attached below is a Wikipedia link to its reputation.
I have been invited and paid up the registration fees and accommodation fees Due to Medical council inspection I wont be attending .Asked for refund .Have doubts regarding authenticity
I really wonder why there is no one out there to speak favorably for this group. So I now have doubts for anything they have to offer. Earlier in the year - after several emails - I gave them a provisional 'yes' answer. If they are really what they said they are, then somebody should have scored them high here. So, going by these comments, I may have to reconsider my decision to attend!
I got invitation 2 days back for WCDD-2015 mentioning that they are inviting me as a speaker to share my research work . I am also confused and unable to decide what to do.
Hi, i have been invited for 2 conferences taking place in Nov. 2016, as invited speaker or chairman, but taking a look at their website the program is still empty and there is no name of any of the speakers or presentation. There is only 1 email for contacting the organizing committee and I have serious doubt about the authenticity of all the conferences. Please be careful,
Have just received an invitation for BIT’s 5th Annual World Congress of Food and Nutrition-2016. They mentioned very well my published papers related to the topic of conference. Their website looks good with a number of researcher around the globe as the Program Committee. However, doubts came in my mind when I learned from the web that "Participants are recommended to apply for a Tourist Visa. The organizing committee of WCFN-2016 cannot issue an official letters of invitation for a Business visa application due to Chinese regulations". Hence, I seek further info by google and found this discussion which is helpful. Thanks for sharing!
When you go for applying VISA, the embassy would ask you to apply for the business visa as you are going for a conference. Instead you tell them that you are going for a conference. They don't need any official letter. The emails from organizers would be sufficient for approval of your VISA. Should be no problem with this one.
I have just received the invitation to give oral presentation next year and wondering what to do. Lucky that I find this topic and get some more ideas about what is is. Thanks a lot everybody!!
Yeah I was I invited many times - I am Chinese by the way, therefore I can easily tell they were fake conferences. I told them to remove me from their contacting list. Good luck.
I thought it would be good to share with your this link. How to identify the legitimacy of conferences?https://scholarlyoa.com/2016/06/23/proposed-criteria-for-identifying-predatory-conferences/
As Ahmed said these are called predatory conferences and these companies use the same approach as predatory journals. Sometimes they are the same companies.
I suggest to take a look at the criteria and have them in mind
I also have just received the invitation to present a speech. I was wondering what to do, but there is no doubt now: it is a predatory congress, just a business. Thank you everybody for all your comments.
I recently received an invitation from the BIT's 10th Annual World Cancer Congress, Barcelona, Spain, to make an oral presentation related to one of my last publications.
Due to I had doubts about the reputation of this congress, I was searching for comments about it.
I would like to say thank you for all your comments and make clear that it´s predatory meeting. I will be asking them to remove me from their mailing list.

Ms. Jessica Yang Organizing Committee of WDD-2018 BIT Congress Inc. East Wing, 11F, Dalian Ascendas IT Park, No. 1 Hui Xian Yuan, Dalian Hi-tech Industrial Zone, LN 116025, P.R.China Tel: 0086-411-84799609-826 Fax: 0086-411-84799629 Email: [email protected]
I also get many invitations from them. As a matter of fact, I attended once too in Dalian. Conference actually takes place at the venue and delegates are also around but they just need money for everything from registration to hotel (if you opt for it). They have packages, you can select. They provide the facilities you select in the package. Even the hotel is five star. No problem.
If you are interested in sight seeing, you can go separately. NO need to pay them unnecessary.
Now whenever I get an invitation, I just ask them to pay for my visit and cover all my expenses right from the air ticket to accommodation. Then they will not bother you except the one mail that they cannot do this because of financial constraints and all excuses. I just write them if you want to call me as a speaker, just arrange my visit. That's it.
Next time u get an invite, try this. Hopefully you may get a sponsored trip. :)
Yes its true they are just cheaters, I have attended to WCC 2107 Barcelona, Spain. Once I went their I found that my Abstract was not in the proceeding booklet. Which they later admitted as their mistake and promised me to refund my registration fee, which I haven't received yet. It is fraud institution for sure.
Therefore: click alternatively into one of the possibilities shown and get – after some second – other or similar results as they are archived and available in ResearchGate.
Especially if you search in ‚Questions‘ only for
| fake conference |
you can see that invitations to such (fake) conferences (either to participate, or to present a lecture, speech, workshop, etc.) ARE issues nowadays….
Out of the many results as collected in RG-"Questions" I would like to point you to my relatively actual Q and comments on: https://www.researchgate.net/post/Real_or_SCAM_Conference_Is_the_5th_Annual_Conference_ofAnalytiX2017_Fukuoka_Japanhttp_wwwbitcongresscom_analytix2017_a_legitimate_conference?
Best wishes and hoping for any presumptive - because „invited“ - „conference participant“ not to get mousetrapped….
I have been also recently invited to the conference that is going to be held in Barcelona, but as it is said in previous answers it seems to be predatory conference.
I recently received an invitation from them but after a 5 minutes search on google, it looks pretty much a predatory conference. Will decline the offer
Craig A. Horswill WCC 2020: I answered with a version of Groucho Marx: PLEASE ACCEPT MY NO. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CONGRESS THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A SPEAKER.
