it is OK. But if you want to make GCMS system more durable, it is best to use the option of ignoring the solvent when you inject pure ETOH

Yes,it is completely safe.

If you use EtOH as solvent, the mass detector must be off during the initial time of analysis. Entering the solvent to the mass while it is on, can cause detector saturation that is not favorable.
