RNA22, miRanda, TargetFinder, and psRNATarget are four different algorithms aiming at finding miRNA targets. Many research-work claims at using a consensus of the result produced by these algorithms. All the algorithms work with different concepts and give weightage to different criteria. Is it wise to have only those results which follow the criteria laid down by all the algorithms?
Hello there. I think it is useful, but, you may want to include some other tools and webs. Maybe including miRWalk, TargetScan and miRDB can give you more accurate results. There are some papers where they use 10 or more algorithms to predict miRNA targets. So, it is useful but I suggest you to include some more databases.

Using several target prediction tools is a good protocol. There are a few analysis algorithms that take into account the simultaneous results of different target prediction algorithms. As far as I know, the most recommendable tool is MirDip (only available for human miRNAs), which calculates a consensus score using the results from a group of target prediction algorithms selected by the user.
Do not forget that the scores generated by different algorithms are not directly comparable, unless you have a way to calculate a consensus score.
