I heard general routine of a project, where people want to establish 2 immortal pig fetal febrablast cell lines, one with sustaining expression of human TERT, the other with inducible expression of human TERT. Since it's reported that the cloned embryo from sheep immortal cell line with stable expression of human TERT can be obtained by somatic cell nuclear transfer. What do you think of the feasibility of the idea?
I'm not entirely sure what your actual question is. Whether it is generally possible to immortalise cells using a TERT-based approach or whether it's feasible to do so in animal cells with human TERT?
To the first: seeing that ATCC offers a whole range of hTERT immortalised cell lines (http://www.atcc.org/Products/Cells_and_Microorganisms/hTERT_Immortalized_Cell_Lines.aspx) I think the idea is feasible. You can find a lot of literature describing the process and principle.
To the second: As far as I could see ATCC offers only cells of human origin that are hTERT immortalised. But give it a quick google search and there's publications on hTERT cell immortalisation of all sorts of species. I have to say that surprised me a bit. I'm no expert in that field but I would have expected issues in trying to combine material from two quite different species. Of course I don't know about the quality of the publications or whether this practice is actually questioned.

Thanks for your answer. My question is based on your second one. Moreover, I need to get cloned pigs via SCNT of those immortal cells. I'm wondering whether this would be possible.
