I could not find any recent papers concerning choledochoduodenostomy, a procedure which used to be one of the most popular procedures for the management of common bile duct stones for almost a century.

It is quite understandable that it has been excluded by the endoscopic papillosphincterotomy (EPST). However, the EPST is not always possible to carry out successfully (for example, due to paravaterian diverticula type C; after B-II gastrectomies; and scar strictures of the pharynx, etc.).

Does anybody still perform it, and if yes, when and why?
