Because of the specialised content you have pointed out, I recommend using professional translation or trained (skilled) post-editors with related domain knowledge (experience). Using just Google Translate here is risky due to terminology issues. Machine translation could be used only after careful post-editing by skilled linguists (translators).

If you still prefer to use machine translation, I think Deepl translator (there is a free version) would provide more accurate translations than Google translate. One of the available options on Deepl Translator is Deepl Write, which allows you to edit the target text. In any case, I agree with Jozef Štefčík that it would be necessary to check the vocabulary specific to the subject you are translating. Another option is to have a specialist medical translator proofread the translation once it is complete. The translator may be familiar with the terminology of the field, otherwise the appropriate terminology will be provided.

Dear Rosa María Esteban thanks for your answer. We do have a a bilingual intern in Rheumatology who would be willing to revise the original Portuguese transcripts and the English translated ones. We have a look at the Deepl softaware, too.
