Immunohistochemical and/or immunofluorescent detection of SMAD phosphorylation: Is it possible?

Hi,

I am wondering whether it's possible to detect (by IHC and/or IF) phosphorylation of SMADs (SMAD 1/5/8) in isolated murine cells (alveolar, peritoneal or bone marrow macrophages). Please point me to relevant publications and/or advise me on antibodies, protocols etc.

Antibodies from Cell Signaling and Santa Cruz are compatible with IHC and IF.

I found this article that uses Ab from Cell Signaling for IHC in tissue sections

This article uses Ab from Santa Cruz for IF in osteoclast

I believe they should work for other cells that express Smad.
