I haven't worked on mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) before. What extra steps would mtDNA extraction needs over genomic DNA extraction? practically i mean?

Extraction of genomic DNA is done easily by some commercial kits. I've done it many times by kits from Promega and Qiagen.

What additional steps are needed for extraction of mitochondrial DNA?
