I have to use a laser source having 1 w power and a certain wavelength in COMSOL where the physics is in Wave optics module(EM wave, frequency domain). Previously i used a circularly linearized plane wave, but instead of a plane wave as source, now i have to use a laser as source. I have attached a part of the structure which i need to implement in COMSOL. I need to know about how to implement the "LASER BEAM" part depicted in the figure using COMSOL. Also, how to implement "ANNULAR LASER BEAM" in COMSOL would help too. Can anyone help?

I think you have a lack of basic understanding of laser. A laser beam is nothing but a monochromatic and coherent wave of light which is focused in a fixed direction, rather than spreading out. If you can grasp the concept, it is quite straightforward to implement such in any software.
Thanks for reply. I knew those fundamental things about laser but what i could not figure out was if the gaussian beam can be pinpointed from a certain x,y,z co ordinate in COMSOL. In Comsol, the gaussian beam can have a certain bram orientation, beam radius, focal plane along the axis etc. But what about the exact position of this gaussian wave beam?

How sad and silly that you cannot do a simple thing.
I have attached two of the ways to implement as you asked in Comsol Multiphysics software. In the first way, injection plane/axis of the wave may be easily defined using a boundary condition. However I have done so for 2D, you may extend to 3D easily.
The second way does not have such a simple way to choose the xyz cordinate of injection. It is by default at 0,0. You have to adjust your geometry itself to change this injection point. For example, shift the rectangle by -5 units to move injection point by 5 units along x-axis. Or move the focal plane p.
The third way is the simplest - use user-defined port. Input power may be specified, and the position of port may be chosen at any boundary. But for getting Gaussian form, you have to specify the formula for E0 manually in port settings.
