How to keep microglia and macrophages at a consistent level of M1 polarisation?

I've recently been raising primary microglia and macrophages, and the method of their M1 polarisation is pretty similar. Now I'm wondering how to make sure that they achieve similar levels of M1 polarisation? Does anyone have experience with this related aspect?
