I have been trying to revive Metarhizium anisopliae from a month old plate onto PDA + 1% yeast extract, and incubated it in the dark for 13 days.
Supposed, there will be sporulating region (green) observed by day 14th. Despite after 13 days incubation, there is no spore observed (only white mycelia have been observed- figure attached).
Hence, I wondered is there any way to induce the spore formation? Thank you.
Flonia Benet Nutrient starvation will induce fungi sporulation.

For those who might come across this issue, we have addressed it by reviving the Metarhizium culture onto the host itself. Once the host was fully covered by the culture, the isolation was conducted and the culture was incubated in the dark for 14 days. We manage to have well sporulate Metarhizium on hand with this method. Hope this helps.
