Hello,

I extracted RNA from human cancer cell line, and I run agarose gel electrophoresis to detect any genomic DNA contaminants in my samples.

Here are the conditions: 1% agarose gel in 0.5% TBE Buffer, run for 100V for 1 hour.

From the gel picture below, I did observed genomic DNA contamination, as show in the red box in the picture below. To get rid the DNA contaminants, I did DNase treatment for the samples.

Upon the DNase treatment, I did run agarose gel the same condition as before. From the gel picture, the genomic DNA bands was already disappear. However, there are still bands observed under the well (yellow box).

I did check for some papers, and they claimed the band as protein contaminants. So, can anyone suggest me on how to get rid the protein contaminants?

Thank you in advance!

Nadhirah.
