I'm working on preparing antibacterial masterbatches for polyester filament. However, incorporating zinc oxide increases the FPV value, which negatively affects elongation and tensile strength. To improve dispersion, I tested different dispersants, including EBS wax and polyester-based waxes. Among them, MJU Wax 7902 showed the best improvement in FPV, but it caused a new issue: precipitation and smoke formation after the die face when the filament contacts water.

My questions are:

  • Should I continue using Mju Wax 7902 while adjusting parameters like temperature to control the precipitation?
  • If not, can you recommend an alternative wax dispersant that offers good dispersion without causing precipitation?
