I would like to conduct time lapse microscopy experiments. We have olympus IX81 microscope and I need to choose the appropriate glass chamber. I need to order the glass chamber from Thermo Scientific Nunc Lab-Tek company. Is there anyone who can give me an advise? I wrote the link, one can check the catalog numbers and specifications of glass chambers p. 118-121.

for your purpose the Lab Tek II chambered cover glasses will be best. The catalog number depends on the number of wells you need.

If you intend to use an air or water immersion objective make sure you use the #1.5 coverslips. #1 are only for oil objectives and in that case only for ~10 microns above the coverslip.

I would recommend IBIDI chanber slides or LabTek chamber slides. The latter are glas, the IBIDI are plastic with the same optical properties as glass. They are way cheaper and you can have them in a much bigger variety. As pointed out by Jay: make sure to order 1.5 thickness...

I had very good luck using Mattek cover slip bottomed dishes from Mattek corporation and deltaT dishes from Bioptechs. I am not sure if these are available for you. But Mattek dishes will be of best bet.

Hi Gizem, just came across your post. actually you can make your own imaging chambers very inexpensively. we used metal cork borers with plastic handles and heat one of them with the proper diameter on a hot plate to a 500C then poke a hole to a petridish bottom, next you can use a microscope coverslip and use a UV curable optical adhesive to glue the coverslip on the bottom of the petri dish(you only need very little swipe), you can also buy a compatible uv light source (you buy these for once and they can last for years actually) and after you make multiples of them you can UV sterilize under UV in the hood (we kept them as close to the light as possible). here is the link for the cork borer and uv adhesive,

I also had really good experience using this inexpensive glass bottom dishes for live-cell imaging from Cell E&G. They are sterile and less than one dollar each.
