in what kind of solvents do you prepare your TRIS buffers?
If it is seawater with salinity 20-40, you can calculate pH on the total scale according to DelValls & Dickson (1998).
For brackish waters, Mosley et al. (2004) gives another function for pH in dependence of salinity. You could use this one also to calculate pH at zero salinity (pure water). For a TRIS/TRISH + concentration of 0.04m the value should be 8.07.
I’m not sure if there’s another, potentially better characterization of TRIS in pure water available.
