Hello friends!

This message is an  "S.O.S."

I'm working on a subtropical wetland of 12,000 km2 in NE Argentina.

In the last 20 years it has increased afforestation with pines surrounding the wetland, and there are programs to increase the forest area that is in the  wetland basin. P. eliotii is an  exotic specie with fast growing here

I started to study the influence of the pines (I installed water meters (piezometers), rain gauges to measure rainfall interception, lysimeters, thermometers, etc.)  and also  i´m measuring soil moisture to 1.50m deep, comparing a site afforested with pine trees and an adjacent without pines, grasses.

I´m looking the information on water level of the wetland from 1960 to now.

Unfortunately, I have many economic limitations to install a network of measuring stations surrounding the wetland, using sophisticated instrumentation ...

My main goal is to know whether the increase in forest area with pines can produce desiccation of the wetland.

I would appreciate any comments that help me:

1) literature (links, pdf, others)

2) comments on methods to address the issue

3) "sorrows and glories" in this issue  from your experience... ha ha ha.

Very thankful!

JJ
