We prepared copper films with granular structure on a nonconducting epoxy glass substrate using electroless plating method. The prepared films are found to be very active for the electrooxidation of formaldehyde. The dependency of the catalytic activity of the electrode on the microstructure of copper film was investigated. We have found that when the grains size increased the catalytic activity of the film decreased dramatically. Can anyone give an explanation about this relation?
