There are some dirts on the inlets and outlets of our mass flow-meters. I guess they are burnt or dried grease. They had sticked on the materials and I try to clean them for clear gas flow.
Do you have any idea how can I clean them? (I had tried to clean them ethanol, toluene and thf but they did not work well. On the other hand I don't have hexane)
You should use aceton first and then IPA solvents in an ultrasonic bath for half an hour. It should work to remove the grease.
Strong ultrasonic is also my suggestion, you can also try with slight mechanical action with a sand mill or ball mill if the component can support the stress without damage, bye. Simone
I would suggest Acetone as a "stronger" solvent for the ultrasonic bath, however ensure you remove the O-rings first. You could also try using a warm, strong solution of sodium hydroxide, as the readily dissolves grease.

The best way to clean stainless steel appliances is with Windex or WD-40 directly on the oil stain. if it does nnot work well, toluene, mineral spirits, methylethylketone (MEK), acetone, vinegar, kerosene, gun cleaner can be used to clean stainless. Acetone is not preferred to clean stainless steel as it may damage by rubbing in the polish direction.
Ultrasonic cleaning can work well at removing grease from steel in alkaline solutions at suitable pH value 12 and 40KHz.

My experiments show that it is best to clean burned grease with Windex or WD-40. Spray and leave until dissolved. This can be repeated several times if burned deep. Good luck with the work you did.
