I used 50 mL of Aspergillus fumigatus liquid fermentation (fermentation in SPG broth for 10 days) plus 30 mL of chloroform in a decantation funnel during 3 days. I got the organic phase and assesed over Candidad albicans by disc diffusion method.

Unfortunately the negative control (30 uL of chloroform) has antimicrobial activity and did inhibit Candida (20 mm).

Any ideas to improve the extraction? Because according to references the chloroform should work with Aspergillus in order to inhibit bacterial growth.

Thanks in advance!
