We are looking to measure a specific interaction between NeutrAvidin and an antibody. We've read that Streptavidin does not appreciably bind antibodies specific to Avidin, but there is no information realted to NeutrAvidin directly. We'd like to measure the effect of biotinylation, so we are looking for a NeutrAvidin-specific antibody to measure with and without biotinylation. Has anyone ever seen this performed?
Despite similar names, Streptavidin originates from a yeast and avidin from chicken. The lack of cross reactivity is not surprising. Most anti Avidin Ab should bind to deglycosylated neutral avidin. But I never been checking that. J.
An excellent way to measure specific interaction between 2 molecules is BiaCore instrument. You can also determine the affinity of the binding. Please see my paper in pubMed. Look for.....Espinola R. AND Pixley R.
