Does anyone have any experience with using TO-conjugated probes in qPCR? Glen Research makes an thiazole orange NHS ester, and the cited literature claims that it acts both as a minor groove binder and a fluorophore, and self-quenches to boot. Is there some reason why it isn't more widely used, especially in qPCR? Does it actually do all things claimed?
