Researches in Duke University have recently shown that "adult Neurons Signal Stem Cells to Make New Neurons". This is somehow a novel approach to the culture of tissue or cells by implementation of adult cell signaling.
Do you think it is possible to generalize this method to other kind of cells? is it possible to produce liver cells by the signaling of liver cells, for example?

this kind of culture could be an example of same produces same.i think that would be an alternative way to culture pancreatic cells in situ. like let the body repair itself
That is one method we have used in my laboratory to generate specific cell types from adult stem cells. Differentiated cells secrete inductive (paracrine) factors that induce stem cells to commit to their particular tissue lineage. We have either co-cultured genomically-labeled pluripotent stem cells with adult differentiated cells directly or utilized medium conditioned with differentiated cell paracrine factors to induce lineage commitment and expression of differentiated cell types in our labeled stem cells. We used the labeled stem cells so we could distinguish which population was doing what in the cultures.
