I have modeled a pin diode in comsol. I'm changing the thickness of material, doping levels and types of materials to observe the effect on quantum efficiency quality. I have applied electric field to observe and I can plot magnetic field, current density, surface current density, backround electric field etc. values of the model. How can I calculate the quantum efficiency by using these value? I have realized that I need to find the responsivity but to find it I need to know quantum efficiency of the device. I couldn't catch a responsivity formula independent to quantum efficiency? Thenk you very much in advence.
In order to calculate the responsivity of a photdiode, you have to subject it to an incident photon flux with a proper wavelength and intensity, That is an optical power P with a specific wavelength. Then you have also to bias the device or shortcircuit it. Normally photdiodes are biased in the reverse direction. Then as an output you calculate the diode current Ip.
