The ATCC provides a lot of information about the ethnicity of the originating person from which their cell lines are derived.
I think MDA-MB-468 cells are the most popular breast cancer cell line originating from an African-American. There are others like HCC70, MDA-MB-175-VII, and ZR-75-30, but I haven't read many breast cancer papers that deal with those.
The only prostate cancer cell line I know of originating from an African-American is MDA PCa 2b.
I sincerely wish you well in your efforts. Even though breast and prostate cancer disproportionately affects African-American women and men, the amount of cell lines originating from African/African-American/black individuals is not representative of that disparity.
Thank you so much Jason. I will check these cell lines out. I recently found some in the literature, but they were not commercially available. It is very hard to find AA tissues and cell lines.
