What is the response for your crystallization experiment? How many factors and levels do you want to test? Are there any special constraints/design items that are important to you? There are many better methods for experimentation, beyond Taguchi.
Taguchi Designs tend to be "boxed" designs. Meaning, you get whatever is in the design. It is difficult to find a design that exactly conforms to your experimental design space. They also tend to use far more samples than needed, for little gain. The confounding patterns for the designs are pretty bad too.
