In our lab, we established a new cell line from a gastric cancer patient.
I have to do a lot of work about the new cell line: basic information about the cell line such as cell proliferation, further information such as drug resistance，stem cell proportion，and p53 mutation.
We did not find any new information about the cell line.
Do I need to do genome sequencing to get more information about the cell line. How can I get more information about the cell line?

I would absolutely recommend you read papers by Hans G Drexler. He has several papers and book chapters on the topic.

Surface marker analysis
Virus status
contamination status mycoplasma and other contaminant lines
STR /SNP/Next-gene data or equivalent
