Hey there, the attached link talks about a method for immunohistochem for GFAP in a fetal mouse brain. There are lots a great methods on immunohistochemistry on SciGine.
I have used GFAP labelling alone or in combination with others such vimentin in brain slices, retina and cochlear tissues. For details please see my following publications.

I have had good luck with the Dakopatts polyclonal anti-GFAP (rabbit anti-cow GFAP), product number Z0334. It reacts with GFAP in a wide variety of mammalian species. I have labeled astrocytes in culture and in frozen sections of paraformaldehyde-fixed tissue.
I have also used the monoclonal anti-GFAP clone G-A-5. Many companies have this clone, so I would look to see who might have either a trial size or has good ratings for the product.
