When I was doing my PhD some articles I published straight away in the journals.

Some article I presented first, in a conference. Then I got some suggestions to improve my working paper as well. After that I published it in a journal.

Journal article publications and conferences are very important for any academic.

I'll always go with reputable journals, unless if the work needs to be presented at a conference. Conference papers cannot be compared with journal articles.

In my view, this depends on the area of research and the opinion of the author. In some fields, conferences are received higher attention of authors compared to the conferences. For example, in computing and information technology, research events organized by ACM, IEEE, ALP, etc. are contributed by a large number of researchers. Sometimes, there could be benefits of publishing in conference proceedings than publishing in journals (and vice versa). In some other areas, journal articles could be more important than conference proceedings. Indeed, I know that some institutions give higher marks for journal articles than conference articles when evaluting research performance.

Well, in most countries is not just a preference, it is mandatory by the science recognition systems. Also, Universities prefer publications and make some times mandatory or provide economic support or stimulus for that.

I usualy prefer to publish my Research papers in Scientific journals than conferences since the scientific journals have higher academic impact than the conference papers.

Actually, publication in scientific journals is the most preferred way due to the high impact of publication. However, when thinking for interaction and getting more colleagues in your field I think international conference will be the ideal option.

Academic journals are generally preferred

Both are important in an academic but publication in indexed journal is more exciting.

I think it depends on manuscript quality and unique idea. The first choice, I prefer the peer reviewed scientific journal. The second choice may be Conference.

publication in the international journals is the best way for me. Actually, Publication in the conferences must be for the primary form and results obtained. You can get feed back from your colleagues and the re-write for a reputable journal

Both of them are important and well. That depends how do you follow aim and scope about it. Of course, i prefer that to have more journal paper than the other type of them. Because i think that it has more credibility for a researcher and it makes shaping up an independent scientific characters in short term and long term.

i prefer to publish it as a poster or presentation in the international conferences to get feedback. Then publishing in a journal.

Both are preferable. In spite it, I prefer to publish in a reputed scientific journal as to enrich my profile in a scientific world, cause it will be counted if it has impact factor. Alternatively, there may not have opportunity to count impact factor by attending in a conference.
