I have sub-cultured some orchid PLBs in bottles but after 3-4 days fungal contamination comes, now i want to rescue all these PLBs, suggest any procedure?
If it is a fungal contamination, most probably you will have to discard cultures, depending on how many days that the fungal contamination has been there. We have tried to rescue such cultures in the past, using various types of antifungal treatments, but with little success.
If you are sure that the contamination is caused by fungi, try supplementing the medium with the recommended concentration of fungicide. Alternatively inoculate cultures to a new medium after washing cultures with fungicidal solution then rinse with sterilized double distilled water.
can you send some images of the contamination?...if the contamination is on media then the chances of rescuing are more than those on the plants....so images are important
I think you cannot save your culture after 3-4 days because the spores of fungi will spread in the new medium ,but if you try a new culture make sure to supplemented with fungicide it will be very helpful.
