We have been using clot blood and blood with anti-coagulant ( collected in Vacutainers with K2-EDTA), stored at -20 C for years, for extraction of genomic DNA. We use ProteinaseK -Phenol-chloroform method and get a very good quality and quantity of DNA. This DNA is HMW and is suitable for PCR as well as Southern Blotting.
I want to bring the blood samples (each time, getting some samples) from an hospital to my lab using a small cooling container (4°), the distance is about 130Km.
To keep the samples in 4° for 2-3 days, before store them in - 20 or -80°, that would not influence samples ?
