I am interested in growing a cardiac myocytes monolayer on a bed of agrose gel to be later used for a heart contractility simulation assay. Any ideas on how to go about doing that? More important can I grow cardiac myocytes invitro? I have been searching and I am yet to find someone who has grown a monolayer of cardiac myocytes!

YES you can do that but use the low melting agarose, i will suggest to have a metrigel 3D culturing for that purpose because the agarose beads creates quite hindrance in growth and especially contractility which is ur concern.

Thank you so much Khayam for your reply , I was wondering if I would trouble you further with one more question. Can the 3D gel be thick enough to be cut and mounted on an apparatus such as a skin fibre apparatus?

i did it with a decellularized heart and it started beating. and yes u can do so.
