Biomaterial or scaffold for stem cells to transplant in osteo-chondral defects in rat or rabbit. There are large number of biomaterial experts are out there on RG site. My stem cells placed in osteo-chondral defects and later covered with fibrin glue is not helping much for the survival of stem cells checked after few weeks. Many thanks.
I can suggest some mixture with platelet rich plasma to enrich the location with different growth factors and improve homing or mixture with hydrogel to concentrate the cells in the area of injection

what about a 3d collagen scaffold (sponge) ? It is better suited for in vitro culture and is easy to transfer into a defect. I use the Optimaix 3D scaffold for all in vitro and in vivo experiments. http://www.matricel.net/en/products/optimaix/product-description.html. But feel free to test other collagen scaffold.

PLA or PHB porous scaffolds (>60% vol. porosity) may be filled with stem cells. We also used PHB/HAp scaffolds with stem cells and growth factors to increase osteoinductivity.
We transplanted such bioengeneering construction into bone defects of rats. So, you may also use biodegradable polymer scaffolds filled with bioactive ceramics

we tested PHB/HAp scaffold for bone and UHMWPE implant for cartilage defects replacement. But the last one was not porous.
In case of PHB/HAp there were sites of neo-osteogenesis after 3 weeks of orthotopic transplantation in rats bone. Over time there was resorption of the material and replacing it with bone.
