I had my simulation of ellipse with the dimension of Major axis=5m amd minor axis= 0.2m and i get contours and all the things, I don't know how to find strouhal number in this graph. please help to solve this problem.Looking forward.
Ansys uses a characteristic dimension D and velocity V to normalize the x-axis (f.D/V). First, you need to make sure those V and D represents your problem. Then the value of St is the one corresponding to the first peak (vortex shedding). Assuming that Ansys uses the true D and V, I can say from the graph that St is between 0.1 to 0.2. Hope this helps
Thank u mr.aboshosha, Can you mark peak value in that graph (The value of St is the one corresponding to the first peak (vortex shedding)). Please looking forward.
Hi! To eliminate any mistake, visualization of the vorticity field is a necessary step. Local mean velocity and distance between the nearest two vortices on the visualization plot give the answer. Visualizing the flow field highlights interesting physics more than just the (Strouhal) number: Vortex street configuration, vortex merging and much more. Three characteristic peaks shown in your Lift-St plot might be answered with such effort. Good luck! -Ji-
