In measuring the plasma HDL-c levels by a phosphotungstate-magnesium method, and the following enzymatic measurement of cholesterol in the supernatant, if I run out of the kit's standard solution:

  • Can I use a diluted cholesterol standard solution from an enzymatic total cholesterol kit? My point is do these two types of standard cholesterol solutions have basically the same active component (but only with different concentration)?
  • If the answer to the above question is yes, do I need to apply any factor, other than the dilution factor, to calculate the concentration of my new HDL-c standard?
