I am using 1ml of 0.5N HCL+1ml of nitrate molybdate reagent and getting yellow color. after I add 1ml culture supernatant the color still remains yellow, however when I add 1ml NaOH the color disappears and the solution becomes colorless instead of red

can anybody help to understand these results?
