I'm regenerating a reference paper model in ABAQUS.
I'm working on delamination buckling and its growth in cylindrical laminates using COHESIVE ELEMENT method for modeling delamination but i have a problem how to create a pre-delamination(working as a crack ) so delamination start from that region and propagate.
Here is a picture I'm attaching which shows predelamination region modeled in cohesive zone and a link to the reference paper.

Doesn't it look like a hole in the cohesive region, (I mean in the middle plane with the gray color).
I guess, the crack region should be a debonded region, so you just need to create a shell part with a rectangular-shaped hole inside it. In this region, there is no delamination and the nodes were opened already.

u mean i create a shell layer part and with a rectangular hole and assign this layer the cohesive material properties????
and then tie this with upper and lower sublaminates ...did i understand u correctly kindly respond
sir i tried that method but for a 3d planaer shell part cohesive section can not be assigned,,,,,,,as the setion is not applicable to 3D PLANAER SHELL PART....ITS APPLICABLE TO 2D PLANAR SHELL PART ,,, NAY IDEA SUGGESTION U WANT TO ADD
