Good day.

Being a recent 'neophyte' into the interesting field of practical computational Biotechnology, I am currently trying to perform a multiple sequence alignment, using NCBI's BLAST resource, on a number of sequences. They are in separate .seq and .abi formats, and I discovered (via researching on Google) that I can BLAST them all at once, if I can upload them all at the same time to the BLAST interface. To do that I read that I'd have to merge them all into a single FASTA format (I hope the term for merging is 'concatenating the files'). However, I have not been able to find any information that tells me (in terms I can understand) how to convert .seq and .abi files to FASTA, unless I can upload multiple .seq to the BLAST interface (which has, so far, proved rather onerous).

Can it be done on MEGA? Are there other software that can achieve this, and relatively easily as well (I'm still learning the ropes in software coding, so I can't handle complex software)? The easiest and most effective methods are what I'm looking for.

Thanks so much.
