I am trying to purchase a CO2 incubator to work with PBMCs. Are incubators with a water pan sufficient to keep the incubator humidified or is it worth it to pay for humidification control? The cells will only be incubating for 24 hour periods of time.

I have cultured PBMC up to one weeks in an incubator with a water pan without any problem.
I think it would be worth to invest in an incubator with hudimidification control only to culture PBMC for longer time.
I used water pan for several years. They seems to be more than sufficient if they are cleaned on regular intervals
Yes, just make sure you add antimicrobials/antifungal stuff to the water in the pan. The only reason (in my opinion) you would need a control is if you work in a QA/QC type of environment. Otherwise, there is not need for it.
Spring for at least a copper pan if the entire incubator is not copper lined.
