I am hoping to find a method in which a change in the environmental conditions for a bacterial cell results in a significant decrease in the ability of a short amphipathic peptide to cross the lipid membrane.
If an anti-peptide antibody exists, it's addition to culture medium would prevent the translocation by trapping the peptide in Ag-Ab complex. But the process could only be reversed by adding further peptide or eliminating/neutralizing antibodies.
