For example, say I have B-cells in culture (immortalized cell line), and I compare them to B-cells freshly harvested from human blood—how would these cells compare? Not in terms of antigen expression, but in terms of: size, resistance to pH, osmotic pressure response, membrane permeability, etc.

Cultured cells exist in a salty media supplemented with serum. Whereas cells in blood circulation are part of a living system that is autonomously regulated. Cells in culture require media changes and are sensitive to their surrounding population; but cells in circulation are regulated by the spleen and other organ systems.

Can anyone help me answer this question or point me to some papers where these things are discussed?
