Are TCID50/ml and CEID50/ml equivalent to each other?

I know that they are different methods to titer virus, tissue culture infectious dose vs chicken embryo infectious dose. But i see these used interchangeably on 510k submissions. Clarification would be great.

Hi Bryson.

The TCID and CEID can be calculated with the same methods ( Spermann-Karber and Reed and Munch) but the result may be different because cell culture and chicken embryo have different sensitivity to replicate influenza virus. This sensitivity can influence in the viral title obtained. I dont know why, in your data table, they give it the same value. The other option is that each virus was title with one or another method but in the data table should be indicated.
