I am looking for Rat, Pig and Human Endothelial and Smooth muscle cell line derived from Aorta. Unfortunately, there are very few commercial source available from Aorta, I guess. So, may be of other types of blood vessels I would need to focus.
I know primary cultures of Smooth muscle and Endothelial cell origin are available from Aorta but cell line would suit my need for transfection and other harsh condition e.g. Serum starvation.
Does anyone have any clue to the source of the above mentioned cell lines?
Or, any experience of primary cultures of smooth muscle cell and Endothelial cell derived from other type of blood vessels? How long do they survive until they lose their phenotype.

ATCC and ECACC culture collections have smooth muscle and endothelial cell lines from different sources. Creative Bioarray have human aortic endothelial cells. Lonza have aortic endothelial and smooth muscle cells coming from different tissue types. You could make some inquiries there and see if something will fit your needs.
If you isolate your own primary culture of VSMCs or ECs from aorta (mouse or rat) you could do experiments until pass 10 or 12. If you purchase primary cells from the company they always tell you how many population doublings they guarantee.

Thanks for the information. I think when I checked last time both ATCC and ECAC, they seem to lack endothelial and smooth cell line from aortic origin. They don't have any which can be studied for vascular development derived from the blood vascular system, if I am not wrong.
I think I have to use primary cultures mainly at the end. But worried about the harsh condition, I have to subject.

I recently bought human aortic smooth muscle cells from Life Tech (part of ThermoFisher), but haven't looked for endothelial cells.
