Please, let me know the size of the sample of Sargassum you are needing (dry weight): grams, kilos, tons...or more ? and, if any , requirements about drying conditions.

Two kilos dried would be enough for the first tests. I need to plane travel with them, and also, the wet ones are heavier and harder, therefore not recommended.
The size of the crops and drying conditions are not restricted, they will be re-hydrated, so the only limitation is that they aren't chemically contaminated (i.e. as for food safety and sustainability).

I am really sorry to be unable tu fulfill your requirements !
To obtain 2 kg of dry seaweed it is necessary to process 15 to 20 kg of fresh weight and unfortunately I don't have the possibility to do it. On the other hand the place where I can harvest the seaweed is located in an unhealthy area so there is risk of bacterial contamination.
Hoping you will find another supplier !

I understand your concern about contamination. Can you please tell me more about the "unhealthy area"? I need to extract the alginate gels, and for that, I believe I could risk for sample use only, some "real life" material, as collected in a normal environment and not directly for human consumption. I also can manage to work with a smaller sample, for starting.
Could you get me 300 gr dry? That would help me a lot! As I recall, my problem is winter harvest and I would need them to start the study in February. Thank you for your help!

I harvested about 2.8 kg (fresh weight) of Sargassum on Tuesday. The thallus is now dry enough to be placed on my boiler. I hope to get about 3 or 400 grams "dry" weight early next week (note that I live in Brittany and that the humidity is often between 80 and 100% in this season !) Please let me know your address and I will ship them to you right away.
Regarding the health conditions of the site (47.62N -2.77W, Conleau), I would like to point out that fishing for mollusks is forbidden, but swimming is allowed at 50 meters from there. The level of pollution is therefore not very high.
