I am reading an article about the accumulation of quecetin-metabolites in the brain (Ishisaka A et al., 2011). In the analysis, the tissue is pre-treated with sulphatase and beta-glucuronidase and the concentration of quercetin and their metabolites is expressed as quercetin or methyl-quercetin. In my opinion, it is more interesting to know the concentrations of the individual metabolites (glucuronides, sulphates, methyl-glucuronides, etc). Is there any reason to quantify the metabolites of quercetin in this way?
