A vertical line at the bottom of my SDS-PAGE gel?

Dear,

Whenever I run an SDS-PAGE, I get an unwanted vertical line appearing at the bottom of the gel. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

Any comments or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The horizontal line at the bottom of the gel shown with boxed border is the line of the dye front. You may choose to run the dye front off the gel and run the gel longer to improve separation of bands that remain on the gel, while allowing the lowest bands to run off, if you are not interested in lowest bands.
